Was Einstein’s Real Genius Coming Up With Cool As Fuck Quotes?

Who needs to invent or identify something when you can just talk about it.

Suddenly the aspirations of the average planner have become much easier.

Mind you, we’d still end up “borrowing” something someone else said before rearranging some of the words so we could claim it as our own.

Ooooooh, I’m such a bitch but I’m simply trying to point out that “we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of insight we used when we created them”.

Ahem.

What the hell are you talking about?

Yesterday was bad. This is bad, bad.

What happened to you when you were away?

All I can say in my defense is that I wrote this a while ago and was obviously ill. I’ve read it 3 times and while I know what I [think] I was trying to say, I am absolutely not saying it.

Bugger, it was going to be incredibly profound, obviously.

Cough Cough.

But if you’re questioning the abilities of planners, then I agree with every word.

But the last 7 years proves you can write posts using the same kind of rubbish that you used when you created them. That makes more sense than the einstein quote which means I’m a genius trapped in a hot body.

Keep these posts up Rob, it might give me the push I need to stop abusing myself coming here.

Comment by Billy Whizz

Are you abusing yourself again Billy? Didn’t you get a written warning for that once?

Comment by DH

Fuck you.

Science is in turmoil over your revelation Billy.

Sorry to laugh Billy, but that is rather funny.

Comment by George

Billy, the STD magnet. That’s got a nice ring to it.

To be fair to planners, part of the reason they are forced to try and solve new problems with old insights is because clients want to deal in certainty and there’s nothing more certain than something their bosses signed off on in the past. I’m not saying this is the right way to operate, for planners or clients, but it’s definitely a negative influence on the level of progression the average planner gets to execute.

Comment by Pete

Yawn.

Comment by Billy Whizz

That is fair Pete, but despite the many outward circumstances that influence decisions and directions, underpinning it is whether the planners mindset is about pioneering new approaches or just talking about them.
As Robert loved to quote, anything is easy for the person who doesn’t have to do it which is why I agree with him. Planning is blessed with many smart thinkers but not as many doers. The discipline is not alone in acting like this, but they are one of the best at talking themselves up.

Look at George and Pete scrapping. It’s all going to go off when you guys get in the office tomorrow morning. Probably*.

* Unlikely.

Comment by andy@cynic

Ruining people’s dreams. It’s what I do best.

Comment by Rob
